1. Required Documents
- If any document is missing on the rental day, the reservation will be canceled, and no refund will be issued.
- You are allowed to drive with an IDP for one year from the date of your entry into the country.
- Please note that IDP (International Driving Permit) and IAA (International Automobile Association) documents are different, so be careful not to confuse them.
- If there is an additional driver, they must also provide all the required documents listed above, just like the primary renter.
- The documents must remain valid throughout the rental period and must all be under your name.
- The International Driving Permit (IDP) must have been issued by an embassy or consulate, and the issuing country must be a signatory to the Geneva or Vienna Convention.
- Driver should have at least one year of driving experience.
- Please submit copies of the above documents as instructed in the pre-arrival email sent after your reservation.
2. Insurance
Your car insurance provides full coverage, including protection against all accidents and damages to the vehicle. The vehicle damage waiver also covers injuries to the driver and third parties, as well as property damage. However, if the vehicle is returned without reporting any damage that has occurred, insurance coverage will not apply, and the customer will be held responsible.
In accordance with the company’s policy, insurance coverage is not applicable in the following cases:
- Accidents caused by a passenger operating the vehicle without the accompanying member.
- Damages or accidents resulting from unauthorized disassembly, modification, vandalism, damage, or self-repair of the vehicle.
- Failure to report the accident or damage to the vehicle immediately or during the reservation period, or intentionally concealing the incident, fleeing, or leaving the scene.
- Damages caused by theft, collision, rollover, or submersion due to the member’s deliberate intent, gross negligence, or unlawful acts, with prior knowledge of the likely consequences.
- Altering the actual vehicle involved in the accident or misrepresenting details of the accident.
- Collusion between the perpetrator and the victim to deliberately cause an accident and claim compensation.
- Including fictitious damaged parties or objects unrelated to the accident in compensation claims.
- Significant internal or external vehicle damage caused by the use of incorrect or poor-quality fuel.
The insurance also covers vehicle repair costs, rental compensation, and towing/recovery services provided by affiliated partners.
3. Fuel Level Management: Level to Level
Fuel Level Setting and Return:
The fuel level is recorded as a percentage at the time of rental and must be returned at the same level.
Cost and Refueling for Low Fuel:
- If the fuel level upon return is lower than the initial level, you may be charged for the fuel shortage.
- You are required to refuel the vehicle according to the fuel used and return it after refueling at a gas station.
- The rental fee is based on the initial fuel level, and refunds for any additional fuel purchased are not possible.
- Do not use the card in the vehicle for payments at gas stations. Unauthorized use will lead to charges.
All Socar vehicles are gasoline only.
4. Toll Fee
- Toll fees are included in the rental cost.
- Pass through the Hi-Pass to use use it for free.
- The lane with a blue stripe indicates the Hi-Pass lane, which is typically located on the far left side of the road. Please use this lane accordingly.
- Hi-Pass is not available on Jeju Island.
5. In Case of Accident
※ If an accident or breakdown occurs due to your fault, we may cancel your reservation. In case of a breakdown, accident, or any issue while driving, you must immediately contact the Socar Customer Center—whether the vehicle is damaged or not. After reporting, you'll need to cooperate with our instructions for vehicle inspections or other required steps. If you fail to report an accident, insurance coverage may be denied.
6. Additional Services
- An additional driver may be registered and use the service free of charge. Please ensure the required documents are prepared for registration.
- Free Wi-Fi is available inside the vehicle.
- Vehicle navigation is provided at no additional charge.
